We commit to putting the utmost care and attention into every tea bag. We start with only high-quality teas and botanicals, then create blends that allow the flavors to shine. We’ve been doing it that way since 1989 — when we became the first American tea producer to use exclusively organic and non-GMO ingredients — and we continue that commitment today.

From The Source

We’re experts at finding amazing-tasting, high-quality organic teas from around the world. We’re proud of the network of growers we continue to build direct relationships with. By going straight to the source, we’re able to select the individual harvests throughout the season that have received the right mix of sunshine, rain, and growth to give our teas their beautifully blooming flavor.

How It’s Made

Organic Farming

It all begins with organic farming. The farms we work with practice organic farming by using natural pest control and organic fertilizers to enrich the soil and nurture every plant. In doing so, they’re supporting their local ecosystem and everything that lives in it.

Harvesting & Selection

From every harvest, teas and herbs are selected with diligence and care. We make buying trips around the world, working with our farming partners to carefully select our ingredients — so that you know your tea will have the same delicious taste every time.

Processing

Each flavor is extracted to bring it fully to life. Once the teas and herbs are chosen, we get them ready for blending. Depending on the types of tea, this process can vary — it all depends on how we can get the most flavor out of every ingredient! To learn more, visit our Tea 101 page.

Blending

The result? Simply delicious tea that’s anything but simple. We taste and taste again to ensure that every blend is perfectly balanced. And we do it all in our LEED-certified tea facility in Eugene, Oregon, allowing us to keep a close eye every step along the way.

Sustainability

We want to create a world that’s better off because we’re in it. Here’s a look at what we’re doing and where we’re headed.

Sourcing

We’re at work creating transparent relationships with our suppliers to ensure that our ethical and sustainability standards are being met. If we know more about where our ingredients come from, we can create a better future for our partners across our supply chain.

Processing

At our Eugene facility, our number one goal is maximizing efficiency when it comes to our waste, energy, and water usage. The facility is the first LEED-certified tea plant in North America, which means that it was designed and built with key sustainability metrics in mind.

Packaging

All of our teas are packed into natural fiber, plastic-free tea bags and then shipped to you in cartons made from 100% recycled paperboard. We encourage you to compost your tea bags and recycle your tea cartons!

This is an ongoing journey for us. We’ve made progress — and there’s a lot more to do. We welcome you to continue the conversation with us @choiceorganicsproducts or via email.
